Poweredge T310 server won't turn on

Hi all,

I have a old and without warranty anymore Dell PowerEdge T310 server that turned itself off a few days ago, and now it doesn't power on!

It also as a flashing amber light on the control panel (without LCD) and noting else. It has two redundant PSU's and both have the green light on, the motherboard has a green light on also, but when i press the power button nothing happens except that amber light flashing. Already removed everything i could, swapped PSU's, removed BIOS battery and it never does anything! Could it be the power button? Or motherboard?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dell 1920W (tower) UPS Boost option set up.

Hello.

I have brought a 1920W unit to power by Alienware Area 51 Tower.

I have managed to install the latest Firmware into the UPS and have the Node Manager Software monitoring the UPS.

When I remove the plug to the UPS the unit switches to battery no issues and the Tower and screen do not miss a beat.

Now for the issue:

The output voltage is set to 240, the input voltage can vary down pass 220 volts but the OUTPUT voltage follows the input. The Tower will drop out when the output get near 220. Not good for it as you would know.

I read the "boost" function should hold the output voltage at a steady state without switching to the battery unless the voltage drops below the switch over point.

I cannot find within either the management software nor the small LCD screen set up the "Boost" function set up.

I've now lost two hard drives because of the tower crashing out.

Any help would be greatly received.

You can clearly see the two times I removed the plug and the output voltage goes straight to 240. Then as the voltage drops on the input the output follows.

Mouse and Keyboard Won't Work After Install

I recently installed 2008 R2 on a Dell PowerEdge R220 and after the installation finished, my M&K inputs won't work. I read on here that the USB 3.0 settings could be enabled and I should disable them since the drivers are more than likely not installed.  However, I cannot find the settings to disable 3.0 for the life of me.

I enter the BIOS (F2) and go to the System Setup portion. Inside there I look at Integrated Devices but I don't see anything in that part that says anything about enabling/disabling USB 3.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

six fans for T620

Hi,

- Do I need the six fans for T620 if I use all of the 12 3.5" drives (SAS 7200) ? I understood the six fans are required for GPU and extra PCIe cards.

- Will the extra drives causes the fan to speed up and become noisy ?

Thank you.

Dell T20 max SATA ports?

I have a Dell T20 I'm putting together. I want to put four hard drives in, for two separate RAID-1s, and have an optical drive. The system I have has four 3.5 bays, so no issue there, but I only see four SATA ports on the board. Is there one hiding from me, or is that the max built in to the motherboard? Thanks!

PowerEdge T30 Optical Drive Filler

I purchased  a PE T30 with the optional optical drive. I have removed the OD in order to add additional drives in the upper drive cage. I would like to purchase the Optical Drive Filler to close-off the open slot in the bezel. The one I have from my PE T20 does not fit in the T30 bezel.

How and where can I purchase the T30 OD Filler?

PowerEdge T30's BIOS problem

I just bought a PowerEdge T30,and add a M2 SSD (SAMSUNG 960 EVO).

The BIOS Version from the factory is 1.0.0.When I Update the BIOS from 1.0.0 to 1.0.2,Everything is ok.

When I Update the BIOS from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 ,Sytem can not reboot.

I Found there is no M2 Slot Displayed in the BIOS,and no M2 SSD Displayed also.

When I Update the BIOS from 1.0.2 to 1.0.5 ,the problem remains unsolved.

Dell 's Support Page says: The BIOS 1.0.3 Fixes:Address a problem where SETUP MENU appears non exist M.2 device.

Why did I have the opposite problem when I upgraded the system BIOS?

Dell 1920W (Tower) UPS set up of Boost Function. (Reposted as last one was removed...)

$

Hello

I have brought a Dell 1920W (tower) to support my Alienware Area 51 as the power in my area fluctuates too much dropping it out.

I've upgraded the Firmware to the latest version and am running the latest Node software.

If I remove the plug from the UPS the output voltage flicks to 240 volts (I've set this amount) and the Area 51 and screen does not miss a beat. It's perfect.

Now for the issue:

The output voltage follows the input voltage, so if the input drops inset of the UPS keeping the output at the set point it does nothing. So when the input volts drop to less than 220 the Area 51 drops out. It's taken two hard drives out so far and I loosing a lot of work and time.

The boost function in the manual clearly states that when boost mode is set the output will be held at the set point without switching to battery mode.

I've attached a screen shot of the logged voltage lines. You can clearly see the two times I remove the plug and the input drops to zero while the output flicks to 240 volts.

Then you can see the input and output voltage follow each other right down to 220 volts.

The blue line is input voltage the brown line is the output voltage.

I hope you can help.

Thanks Tackturbo

Hello.
I wont to monitore a DELL FX2S (and FC430). I wont to know how to do to get its hardware information (temperature, Fan status....), by using command lines.

PS1: I am under CentOS 7, installed on FC430, integrated on the chassis FX2S .
PS2: I have installed Collectd on FC430 to collect data of this one.

lm-sensors doesn't show fan speeds

$

Hello,

I installed lm_sensors on Centos 7. I run "sudo sensors-detect" and answered it each time with YES.

However when running sensors the only information I get is the temperature data.

# sensors
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Physical id 0: +42.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 0:         +40.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 1:         +34.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 2:         +36.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 3:         +38.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 4:         +38.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 8:         +36.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 9:         +39.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 10:       +37.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 11:       +36.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)
Core 12:       +39.0°C (high = +81.0°C, crit = +91.0°C)

PS1: I rebooted the system, but I have the same result.

PS2: The content of "/etc/sysconfig/lm_sensors" file, created after the run of "sensors-detect" is:

# Generated by sensors-detect on Tue May 16 21:51:10 2017
# This file is sourced by /etc/init.d/lm_sensors and defines the modules to
# be loaded/unloaded.
#
# The format of this file is a shell script that simply defines variables:
# HWMON_MODULES for hardware monitoring driver modules, and optionally
# BUS_MODULES for any required bus driver module (for example for I2C or SPI).

HWMON_MODULES="coretemp"

PS3: /etc/modules doesn't exist.

So my question is why I'm not getting fan speed info when running sensors? What to do to get this information?

Cordially.

I came in this morning and the Poweredge R310 has a blinking ST:3ssp4v1 on the display.

None of the drive lights are showing bad and I don't have any errors in the logs. None of the tests show problems with the drives.

Any suggestions?
