M1000e logging informational power supply entries - Filling up SEL

$

Hi,

I am having the same problem where informational logging is filling up the SEL within a few days.
M1000e is sending lots of power supply alarms.

I need to turn off the informational logging for the PSU when it is "checked"

The CMC firmware is "5.12.200.201601220011" for PowerEdge M1000e

power management is as follows:

Server Based Power Management = Enabled

Server Performance Over Power Redundancy = Enabled

Dynamic Power Supply Engagement = Enabled

Redundancy Policy = Grid Redundancy

What i see below is repeated daily since changing the power profile.

Is this fixed in subsequent firmware updates ? or is there a possible issue with the PSU reporting in so often.

both psu 3 and 6 are currently in standby. Other chassis with the same profile do not report in as often on the status of the PSU.

OK Wed May 03 2017 09:44:08 Power supply 6 is operating normally.
OK Wed May 03 2017 09:44:04 Power supply 3 is operating normally.

any info would be appreciated.

Poweredge T610 Under Voltage fault

Hey,

When I turn on my Poweredge T610 the indicater at PS1 turns amber and the LCD says the following:

"PS 1 Status: Power Supply Sensor for PS 1, failure (Under Voltage fault) was asserted"

I live in Belgium and power it through a standard AC 230V output if that should matter.

Anyone any ideas how to help?

Greetings, Jeroen

R710 and W5590 Support?

$

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can answer this simple question for me. Can the R710 support the Xeon W5590? This is a 130W TDP CPU.

I believe I have a V2 motherboard, the MD99X. I have 2 x 870w PSU's installed. The bios has been updated to 6.4.0 and iDRAC at version 2.5. The W5590's are recognized by bios, then after POST the system halts with the message: "This CPU power rating is not supported. System Halted".

I have read the tech bulletin that says both bios and iDRAC need to be updated for the system to support 130W. I have also read numerous times that the R710 supports all 5500 series with 130W CPU support added with V2 motherboards.

Does anyone have an answer or could point out what I have missed.

Thanks

R720 iDRAC initialization error

When we reboot our R720 server we get an iDRAC initialization error, if we run setup we cannot access iDRAC, if we continue to boot we can start up windows but the fans are spooled up.  We tried to reset the iDRAC using the blue i button, also tried removing power from the server and holding power button - no joy.  Any help would be appreciated.

T610 Beeping From Power Supply Non-Issue

I have a T610 beeping continually because of an issue with the power supply. It says that the redundancy status is lost. However, when I look at the Server Administrator, it indicates that both are up and running.

Any ideas why the alarm is going off and/or how to disable it?

R710 BIOS rev and model information missing

Hi all,

I have purchased a 2nd hand PE R710 and the system looks healthy apart from the following:

I) During POST at the Blue Dell logo screen it says BIOS revision, but doesn't list a rev number

ii) In the web interface for the iDrac it doesn't list the BIOS rev or model information

I have upgraded BIOS, iDrac and Life cycle firmware to the latest revisions from the Dell website.

The service tag from the chassis identifies the system on the Dell support site as a R710. The service tag is displayed on the iDrac webpage.

l have tried downgrading the BIOS all the way back to 2.3.x, but this has not made a difference.

I am in the process of downloading the latest Dell Server Utility to see if l have missed any firmware updates.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Poweredge Beeping From Power Supply Redundancy

I have a PowerEdge T610 that won't stop beeping. The error message that it gives is that the redundancy status of the power supplies is lost. However, it seems like both are green and functioning normally. The only thing that seems off is that the output wattages are different, but that hasn't changed in a long time.

Any ideas on how to get it to stop beeping continually?

iDrac6 Vulnerabilities?

HI all - our security team have been up to their scanning again and have picked up a lighthttpd vulnerability in all our Dirac 6 blades. The vulnerabilities are:

CVE-2013-4559

CVE-2014-2323

These are quite old and I suspect for one reason or another don''t apply but I need a firm answer for them. We are running the 3.75 firmware (latest I believe).

Can anyone share some insight/views on this matter?

Cheers,

Sam

R410 Memory upgrade options

Hello,

Recently purchased 2xR410 for a LAB which have 6x4GB installed from factory

(6x  9J5WF DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 4G, 1333, 2RX8, 8, 240, REGULATORY, LOW VOLTAGE).

Can someone please advise me on possible memory upgrade options?

Can I put additional 4GB or 8GB modules in the 2 remaining/free slots? I'd like to have more memory but the system should auto boot without being there and pressings keys :)

What is important when choosing the new modules (sizes, brands, 2RX8, etc)?

Thanks

Dell PowerEdge 1650 Server having issue connecting a monitor or using USB ports.

Found an old Dell PowerEdge 1650 in the shop the other day in our storage closet in Okinawa Japan where it gets hot and humid. And some people before me decided to put it up against the exterior wall next to a vent so more than likely it's just going to need to be dermo'd however it's my job to verify any possibilities of saving it. It powers on and everything seems like hardware is working fine however when I connect a a monitor to either of the 2 video connections nothing seems to pop up and it just goes into power saving mode and same issue with the USB ports I tried to attach a keyboard and none of the USB ports seem to work either. Any help or suggestions would be great. It'd be extremely helpful to get this working.

I have a Dell PowerEdge t610 server running on ubuntu 14. I had setup this server as my internal mail server . A while back as i was upgrading i turn off thr server and plug out the RAM. Few days later i put back the RAMs in the server but now the server wont boot up.

Ive tried switching the RAMs with some of a working server, and still the T610 wont start up .

Upon plugging the power  the fans comes on for few seconds and the green light in the motherboard lights. The fans then stops rotating and everything goes silent.

The t610 server doesn't display anything on the monitor, The power button and the small screen on top of it doesn't display anything.

After switching a Perc6i from a R710 to a R610 I realize I need new cables, which look to be RF5PF for SAS 0 and FTTNX for SAS 1. My question is can I use 2 FTTNX instead? Will they be long enough to reach from SAS 0?
