Hello.
I have Dell PowerEdge R610 with iDRAC6 enterprise.
I can login via web, But when I'm trying to connect to the virtual console I get:
Connection failed with exception: Connection timed out: connect.

I updated the firmware, but still the same error.
What can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance - Tal.

Hi,

We are currently having 1GbE Quad port network card on our R620 and we wanted to upgrade to 10GbE. Are there any Quad port options available? We have come across the following product numbers for Intel NIC and wanted to know what was the difference.

M610 Mezzanine card compatible with IO Aggregator

I installed PowerEdge M I/O Aggregator to Fiber B on PowerEdge M1000e Blade
chassis.

Then, I installed Broadcom NetXtreme II 57711 10Gb Ethernet Mezzanine Card on
one of the PowerEdge M610 blades.

The M-IO-Aggregator is 10Gb and the NetXtreme card is 10Gb but they connect at 1Gb.

What am I doing wrong?

What Mezzanine Card do I have to buy in order to get 10Gb to the IO Aggregator?

Thank you,

Internal 12V Supply for a Digium "4 port modular analog PCI-Express x1" Card

I recently took delivery of a Digium "4 port modular analog PCI-Express x1 card" with 1 FXO and 1 FXS card for our Dell PowerEdge R230 1U rack mount server.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize until after acquiring and installing the card that it needs a separate 12V supply.

Further, the Dell R230 has no stock-standard 12V/5V Molex-style HDD power supply connectors internally and the other PCI slot is already being used by the PERC H330 RAID controller.

Has any one run into similar issues or challenges? I am thinking I need to build a custom connector to take off power from the unused eSATA connector from the embedded RAID controller or that the four unused pins on the power supply for the DVD-ROM drive may provide what I need.

Any well-worn-path experience here would be welcomed.

What is the precise pinout of the Digium 12V connector and what is the specification for the connector? I will need to fabricate something custom for this application and need to know what connectors to source.

Sharing a VRTX Virtual Disk

I have two troubles with VRTX virtual disk.

1> I am trying to share a virtual disk among all my blades however when I mount this virtual disk on all blades, the blades do not see each other's data. This means that say folder /data on each blade is actually different and have different content in it although it is the same disk. is this by desing?

I have tried this in Multiple Assigment mode and I am running on Ubuntu 16.04. I plan to use cluster services later but first, I am trying to get the basics going and figure out what is going on. You help is appriciated.

2> Only when I select RAID0 for this virtual disk, I can assing it to mutiple blades (adpotors) event if I it is on Single Mode Assigment. Is this behavior expected? If so, what's different about RAID0?

Working on a Dell R410 and have 4 8GB Corsair Vengeance memory sticks. When putting memory in, only 4GB of memory is being recognized no matter what the configuration. Total of 16 recognized.

Memory tested on another PC and working fine. Single proc. BIOS is set to Optimized and can't change that option. No other options such as memory mirroring seem to be available.

Hi friends...

Adding memory to R710

We have an R710 server with two CPU's and 16GB of RAM.

The current DIMMS are Dual Rank DDR3 Synchronous Registered (Buffered)/Speed 0.75ns (1333).

The DIMM slots are populated: A2,A3 / A5,A6 / B2,B3 / B5,B6

I have 4-4GB DIMMS that I would like to add to the machine.  The type, ranking and speed of the new DIMMS are the same as the existing, only the size is different.  The part number is: Samsung M393B5273CH0-CH9.

My plan is to add these DIMMS to slots: A8, A9, B8, B9.  This will fill out channels 2 & 3 on both CPU's.

I believe that this plan complies with all of the requirements for adding memory to a R710 as defined by the Dell docs.

Can anyone confirm that this plan will meet all of the Dell guidelines and should be okay to implement?

Thanks for any/all help.

Hello,

I upgraded my firmware yesterday and restarted this morning. I looked in my logs and noticed that i got this error after i restarted:

A bus fatal error was detected on a component at bus 0 device 0 function 0.

Also......nevermind. My H700 perc is working fine. For a moment, the H700 perc battery was in idle and charging. but now its fine. Althought, the amber light on the server is still blinking.

T610 2nd Processor upgrade

First time post!  Our organization currently has 2 Poweredge T610 servers.  We just moved the VM's to one of them, and will not be using the 2nd T610.  So my question is this.  It is a dual processor capable board with 1xIntel Xeon2.66Ghz CPU, so it is feasible to transfer the CPU from the old to the new T610?  Both use the same pn# CPU - an Intel Xeon  E5640 2.66Ghz.  The other question is this.   If it is possible, then we need to mirror the ram to be the same on both sides (currently has 24GB).  If so, we would be set with 12GB on each side.  The system would still see the total of 24GB addressable, correct?

R610 PCI Serial Port Driver

$

We recently uninstalled the drivers for a modem (COM, PCI Serial, etc.)  We have the vendor Modem Drivers and they show as "installed" according to the vendor executable.  However the PCI Serial Port has the yellow exclamation mark.  If you choose to update from the Microsoft driver repo it fails to find any usable drivers (no driver found).

Is there a download I should grab from the Dell Driver downloads page?  I don't see anything that specifically mentions the PCI serial port.  What driver download would it be bundled with? Thanks.
