Customer of mine wanted to replace their aged Dell PE 840 Server with a new PE R430 rack mounted. They ordered the machine without an OS and bought SBS2011 STD to load on it. The OS boots up but the usb ports act like they are dead. It won't see a mouse or keyboard attached.
Any ideas why ?
I have a T710 running Win 2008R2 RAID 1. One of the drives is now blinking amber and I just received a new drive of same size/model.
I am reading conflicting posts in here so I have a question: Do I need to take failed drive offline before I pull it out and insert the new one?
Also in older Dell RAIDS always rebuilt the new drive automatically. Some say it must be manual. Do I need to manually rebuild new drive or will it do it automatically?
2008R2 Raid 1 configuration. All of a sudden yesterday error with 'no boot device found', I think the VD holding the OS was corrupted
Cleared with NVRAM with the jumper and removed cmos battery, still nothing. Won't even boot from cd-rom. I have just cleared the VD and rebuilt, it's initializing. Will my OS be gone after this is completed? How do I reinstall the OS? Should I have rebuilt the physicals as well? I don't have the 2003 disk that came with the server only 2008r2. New to this so, next steps would be appreciated. Thank you.

I need to run Windows Xp on a PowerEdge R200 to control a machine. I see Service and Diagnostic Utilities version 7 is compatible with an R200, but does not include Windows Xp for supported OS. Essentially, I need the optimised drivers for the Ethernet connection.
Should I use an earlier version of these utilities (I have version 5.2), although it may not be compatible with the R200?

Please can you advise if the drivers on the Service and Diagnostic Utilities version 7 would be compatible for Windows Xp? I see version 7 supports the R200 sever, but not Windows Xp. I need the drivers not the diagnostics.
Alternatively, should I use an earlier version - say V5 ?

I'm running a Dell PowerEdge r510 server with a 250 gb hd set to RAID. The server shut down and when I rebooted, it says virtual disk failure and PXE-E53: No boot filename received . Does anyone know a fix. I had two company shared drives on there that I need to recover. I have ordered two new hard drives as well which I'll receive tomorrow. Please advise.

I'm looking at purchasing some used Dell servers and the guy selling them does not know if they have DRAC Enterprise. I see that there's a dedicated NIC on the back of the servers (w/ wrench icon), but the service tag information does not list DRAC in the original configuration. Is there a relatively easy way to determine if a poweredge server has DRAC Enterprise?

Are there install instructions for a GeForce Titan into a Dell 730? There is a connector mismatch and I don't want to fry the GPU. The PowerEdge has 3 connectors and the GPU has 2. I can fit the 3 connectors into the 2 but I'd like to make sure I do it correctly.
(the poweredge has 2 - 3x2 and 1 - 1x2, the GPU has a 3x2 and a 4x2 connector)

As the subject states both PSU' are blinking green (alternating) at the rear of the server.
From what documentation I've read usually one blinks when there is a power output mismatch, but I was unable to find any explanation when both are blinking.
Can anyone shed any light?
We have a C8000 enclosure populated with eight C8220 sleds, each fitted with dual Intel E5-2680 2.7 GHz CPUs and 128 Gb of installed memory. One of these sleds however has always been slow - it takes hours to install any Linux OS onto it from a USB DVD drive when all the others installed quickly and in operation, it is slow to respond to commands or run compute jobs.
Since the original BIOS 1.1.11 was reporting the CPUs were running at 3500MHz instead of 2700, a BIOS update to the latest 2.3 version was done and has fixed this mis-reporting. The server is still slow and looking in the output from dmesg, I found these entries whch differ from all the other sleds:

Look to me like some CPU cores may be faulty - do i have a defective CPU?

The Poweredge R730xd does not include an internal DVD drive but has an external USB DVD-ROM. Is it possible to boot from this external drive?
I am having an issue while I try to download the web-management administration interface (OMSA). I try to find the download for my product but then it is only a "patch", which doesn't want to install as I don't have the main product. The downloadable file that you have on the site is an extension .msp, which is a patch. Where can I find the real download for the whole OMSA setup?

I have a problem witht one Dell Poweredge 2900 server. The server always runs the fans in full rpm.
I tried to update the latest bios and the ESM firmware, but the problem is not solved.
The Dell OpenManage displays only one error, the chassis intrusion says, case is open, but the case is closed correctly. I think the sensor is bad, I try to search the switch but i can't find it.
Please let me know where is the chassis intrusion switch on this server, or how to disable it.

I have two PowerEdge 1950 Gen II servers that have both been updated to the 2.7.0 BIOS. From what I have read it only supports up to the Xeon 5300 series processors, however the 2.7.0 BIOS release notes state it added the Xeon 5400 microcode. With the latest BIOS is the 5300 series really the max or will 5400 series processors work in them?
