Hi.
I plan to acquire a T630 with 30x 300 GB 15 K SAS drives with Dual PERC H730P
Questions:
1. Can I create the following RAID sets
Logical Drive C = RAID 1 with 2x 300 GB (OS)
Logical Drive D = RAID 10 with 4x 300 GB
Logical Drive E = RAID 10 with 4x 300 GB
Logical Drive F = RAID 10 with 8x 300 GB
Logical Drive G = RAID 10 with 12x 300 GB
2. What is the maximum number of Disks I can have for a RAID 10 config ?
3. Should I get Dual PERC Cards or just a single PERC Card ?
Thanks,
Paul

When we are away for extemded periods, we turn our servers off. Sometimes however we need to start the servers remotely and we don't want to rely on WOL for this. We've had nothing but trouble with WOL but that is a seperate topic.
We are thinking of purchasing a power switch for our servers which can be controlled remotely. This is a simple switch which allows you to connect to it over a network and turn individual power outlets on and off. In order for it to work with a computer however, the computer has to have the ability to automatically boot once it gets power.
Does anyone know if there is a setting in the BIOS of a T310 that will cause the computer to automatically start if it gets power? Thank you
A few months ago, I buy a old poweredge 1850 with 1 single core hyperthreaded Xeon's. It worked when it was being shown to us, but it didn't post when we got home. I tried a lot, and I see nothing that could be wrong. I heard once on here that the blinking light is a hardware failure, but is there any way to actually see what the issue is? On the pdf is says view Installation and troubleshooting guide(which I was in :/) And there isn't much more info but that blinking light is a hardware failure. How do I actually find the issue???
Hey all!
I am looking on replacing the stock fan of my server with something that is less noisy and more efficient.
Could someone shed some light about what kind of specs I should be looking for so that what I buy is compatible with the server?
Also please if you have any specific recommendations for specific products please let me know.

just bought a server 2950 iw was used by a company and before they sold it windows was removed. i like to put widows 2008 on it but missing a few progams that will not let the dic be read
I was told I could use an iDrac card in my T310 for remote access capabilities. I could use some guidance on which one I should use. I searched eBay and Amazon and the ones I've found have a part # of Y383M or JPMJ3.
On Dell's site the part # is 330-5946: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&orig_orig_orig_s=gen&sku=330-5946
Another confusion is that some of the ones pictured have a rj45 lan port, and others do not. Thank you
Hi all,
we have a PowerEdge R510, current BIOS version is 1.5.3, BIOS version when it was purchased. After a reboot we had problems to get it up, it was stucked at boot BIOS (didn't take note of the error that was shown). Due to the fact that it was used in a facility where there was a lot of dust, and since there where dust in the inside, I disassembled all it and removed such dust. Once this operation was completed and reasseembled the server it went up with no problem, I took profit to take data backup with an USB 3.0 external HD.
Due to a UPS problem (batteries were dead), we suffered an uncontrolled electric power down and the server went shutdown. Now when we try to boot the server it is stuck on BIOS going up. The screen shows (after configuring memory message) DELL logo, running bar stopped at 20-25% and the error that it's shown are leds 2,3 and 4 with fixed light (ther is no LCD, it's a 12 HD slots), USB error.
I have tried to disassemble all it with the idea to boot it up and update firmaware in first place, but there is no way. From manual information I have tried to reset it through CLEAR jumper, removed motherboard battery, etc, but I cannot find how to get it up.
I have search through manuals, internet and forums if someone dealed with this problem and found a solution but with no luck. Can anyone give me a clue to solve it.
Thanks for your time and appreciated your help.

poweredge t110 II no longer recognizes nic. OS is windows 2012 server essentials r2. Everything works on the server except the nic the system no longer sees the on board nic. Went through BIOS and windows settings. Neither will see the nic.
We have a KVM 2162DS that we use for connecting to our VMware Servers. This KVM supports remote connections. We are finding that when we connect remotely that the function keys such as F2 and F12 that you need to access to the hosts do not work. Wondering if anyone has found a fix for that?
Dell Power edge R730,
Server is working only we get the error on display screen on server. Error is:
CPU1 CPU0000 Internal error (IERR). Contact Support
Replaced batt and reset NV ram as diredted. Bios reports first boot option as CD followed by floppy & HDD.
After power up it runs through SCSI drives and tape etc then reports "no boot device available"
Have swapped CD/Floppy combo drive - green light flashes when CD inseted. Both drives do the same when mounted.
Similarly does not "see" USB drive - BIOS configured correctly and wireless USB mouse works OK.
What am I missing ?
Hope you folks can help!
I've been given a Poweredge T100 with
1) NO OPERATING SYSTEM
2) NO DELL/OEM Installation/setup DISKS for the T100
The only HW that has changed from the original factory HW configuration is the replacement of the original Hitachi HDD with 2 x SATA HDDs (a Samsung and a Seagate).
I've used an " Openmanage systems Management Tools and Documentation v 7.0.0 rev A00" disk for a Poweredge T110 system to boot the system. This gets me into the system and it presents me with the option to install Windows Server 2008 R2. I'm using the evaluation version of W2008r2.
Windows loads but after I configure the language and country, It tells me to insert a CD/DVD with drivers for the system. It doesn't say which drivers.
Now I've thrawled through all the dell Drive/Downloads section and downloaded everything available (BIOS, Diagnostics, Management, Removable disks etc etc), made .ISO DVDs etc where needed etc.
I've presented everything to the system, but no matter what I present, Windows still cannot find the drivers.
Any Ideas on how to resolve.
OR any Ideas on where I might get the original DISK(s) that came with the Poweredge T100.
Hi all,
We have an urgent issue with a Dell M1000e enclosure. Suddenly in Saturday it stopped working and it’s showing “CMC not responding in LCD display”.
All the servers and switches are off and not turning on. The CMCs are repeatedly trying to be active (blue lights from one goes to other) but not working.
Fans and power supply all working at fool load.
We had a spare CMC and we switched it with the old on but we have the same problem. I think that it has to do something internal with the enclosure.
We have a spare enclosure (not used) and we though if we can take everything from the old enclosure to the new one. Will any of the information be lost ?
Could you please advise if you think anything else is the problem and if you have any idea how can we fix it ?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
Kushtrim
Hi,
When performing a NIC update on an R820 (via DRAC) I noticed that the Task Time Limit is set to 1 hour and 40 mins!! This would cause major disruption if it really extended that far. (Actual only took 10 mins).
Can this Task Time Limit be reviewed to a more reasonable time before timing out and causing a restart?
Thx,
John Bradshaw
Hello all,
I have a poweredge T410 that does not receive power, and I am trying to determine if the issue is with the power supply or the motherboard.
When power is plugged in, the power supply makes a clicking noise, and all of the lights inside of the system flicker. When the test button on the back of the power supply is held down, the system seems to receive stable power.
The system is in a minimum post state (1 cpu, 1 ram stick, cpu cooler, etc..) and it behaves the same with the front panel/power button disconnected.
Any help greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure what update file I'm suppose to use to update my M710HD through the CMC. I tried using M710HD_BIOS_VYR91_WN64_8.0.0.EXE but I just get package verification failed error RED007. I'm not sure what else I can try. I had read that if iDRAC isn't up to date it can cause issues, but iDRAC6 is on the latest version.
Thanks
