C6100 server BSOD

I'm trying to track down why this server is experiencing blue screens.

I see the following errors in the event log:

Error Event ID 6008 "The previous system shutdown at 4:21:28 AM on 6/9/2015 was unexpected."

Critical Event ID 41 "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

Error Event ID 1001 "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa800a62e038, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\Minidump\060915-24913-01.dmp. Report Id: 060915-24913-01."

Error Event ID 1500 "The SNMP Service encountered an error while accessing the registry key SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SNMP\Parameters\TrapConfiguration."

Error Event ID 7026

"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:

ClusDisk"

Error Event ID 18

"A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core

Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: Internal Timer Error

Processor ID: 0

The details view of this entry contains further information."

If it helps, here's a couple of links to the dump files generated after the BSOD:

Here is a link to the dump file: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!109&authkey=!AImteEv0JAXxu_k&ithint=f...

Here's another dump file from when the BSOD occurred again 5 days later: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A4C0CA009AA14F65!110&authkey=!AP1c-iA94vV-i0k&ithint=f...

I've checked the web based "megarac" software to look for any error logs or any information on issues with voltages, temperatures or fan speeds and everything appears to be within normal levels, no BMC errors.

MegaRAID storage manager shows an optimal array.

I don't currently have a good monitoring solution for RAM, PSUs or CPUs. Still looking for one.

Can anyone here help point me in the right direction to figure out what's going on?

Second Processor Poweredge T410

Thanks

Testing for bad sectors in hard drives

How can we check the number of bad sectors on a hard drive?

Does SeaTools work for this?

Thank you.

T610, LOM port 2 is not working

other then LOM port 2 everything is working properly. In LCC no error found in Hardware Diagnosis.

In device manager both Broadcom NIC is present. Both NIC is shown in "Network Connections", but Local Area Connection #2 indicates Disconnected. I have tried several active LAN connection cord.
All LAN Cord working fine on LOM Port 1, but none working on LOM Port #2. There is no LED(Link or Activity) is working(light) on LOM port #2.

What can I do? Is there any tool to diagnosis the LOM port #2? Do I need to claim for Mother Board Replacement?

Thanks in advance.

PowerEdge R410 compatible with Kingston KVR16E11K3/12?

Subject line says it all... almost! I have an R410 with just 2GB RAM on 2 1GB 1Rx8x72 UBE, as Dell part G481D. System has a single CPU as Xeon E5520.

Some time ago I mistakenly ordered ECC UDIMMs for a desktop system. I have this Kingston KVR16E11K3/12 kit, with 3x4GB pieces of RAM.

Label says it's 12800 CL11 ECC 240-pin UDIMM.

Each UDIMM label has the following: 4GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800E - 11 - 10 - E3

I can't find any specific confirmation this particular RAM is workable, but based on what I can interpret from the documentation it appears that this "should" work, or at least 2 sticks of this should.

Any recommendations? If I just plug it in, and it's not the right type for some reason, will it damage anything or will it instead just beep and refuse to power up?

Drac 5 firmware upgrade / Poodle vulnerability

Hi,

Just wanted to know if there is a Drac 5 firmware upgrade that fixes the poodle vulnerability?

Cheers,

Getting "Memory not detected" when upgrading memory in R-310 core i3-550

I have tried both registered and unregistered with the same results The RAM was (i sent them back as non-functional) DDR3-1333MHz PC3-10600 ECC registered and the other was ECC unregistered. Total was 8GB.

Is there a change in the BIOS that I need to make to upgrade from the original 2GB to 8GB?

Poweredge 2970 won't boot after processor upgrade

I have a Poweredge 2970 that was originally built with two Opteron 2222SE processors.  Everything I've read indicates that this should be able to use Opteron 2435 processors so I picked up a pair and installed them.

The server would not boot (not even BIOS screen) with them and displayed a variety of error codes with both, then one installed.  I saw things like E1000 failsafe and E123f voltage errors.

I have the latest firmware on everything in the server with the exception of the BIOS.  That is version 3.0.3, which is the highest version that supports the 2222SE processors.  I could flash it to the latest version with them installed, but I'm afraid that would paint me into a corner if the 2435's aren't actually compatible.

Both of the 2435 processors I have are part number OS2435WJS6DGN.  Most of the other markings are the same, but the date stamps are different one is 1108GPM, the other 1028GPMW.  I'm not sure if the W is significant.  I couldn't find any information about it.

Were there different revisions of this server?  Like the II and III versions of the 2900 and 2950 servers?

If anyone has any ideas for things to try to get these processors to work I'm open to suggestions.  Thanks in advance.

Drac 5 console redirect issue

Hi all,

I've been having this issue setting up a Drac that's driving me mad and would be hugely appreciative if anyone could shed any light on this.

I have a PowerEdge 2950 running Windows server 2012 R2. I've recently picked up a Drac 5 card as I need the facility to use the console redirect and access the boot sequence options remotely.

I've installed the Drac, updated it to the latest firmware and can connect to it both from within the network and from outside of the network, login to the Drac page and access all the options however:

If I try and use the console in Java mode I just get a screen screen that says out of range, I've tested using Java 6 and Java 7 on the client machine thinking that it could be a Java issue, I've also added it to the list of sites in Java, still no luck.

I then tried using the Native Active X plugin in IE 11 however I get an error after the security prompts appear saying plugin failed to run, I've tried adding it to a list of compatible sites, changing the Active X security settings, adding it to local intranet and trusted sites and still no joy.

I've also tried this in Firefox and Chrome and still have the same problems.

I've ruled out a closed port issue on the firewall by using Wireshark to see what's happening as I had already opened all of the Drac 5 suggested ports but also did a test by opening ANY ports to that IP and it still won't show the console.

The most crucial part of the Drac 5 feature doesn't work and as you can imagine this is very annoying as its over an hours journey to get to the server if things go wrong.

Deos anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Dell R730XD Intel X710 NIC Partitioning Issues

I'm having some issues with the R730XD and the Intel X710 4x10G optical NIC (integrated).

I've disabled network partitioning on the interfaces, since we're not exploring that right now.  However, during an attempt to IPXE, I noticed that IPXE detects the NIC, but registers a MAC address of 00:00:00:00:00:00, which obviously fails.

it's impacting my VMware Auto Deploy options.

I also notice that when I do enable Npar on the NIC interface, the virtual MAC address is 00:00:00:00:00:00 as well.

This is an invalid MAC for DHCP and for PXE, so there is no point to have it and enable the PXE feature.

If anyone has any advice, let me know as I'm on the latest BIOS / Firmware.

DELL R430 - New SAS HBA 6GB - Boot and LCC error

Hello eveverybody,

I have a fresh new Dell Poweredge R430 with a SAS HBA 12GB and everything was ok.

I replaced the 12GB card by the dell SAS 6GB HBA buy on the Dell Website .MyServer wont boot correctly since i replaced it...

My scenario is :

1/ "Initializing Firmware Interfaces "- now take about 5-10 minutes to pass.

2/ Lifecycle controller wont boot and get stuck on : "Entering LCC"

3/ If my server want boot..., it take long time to be on Windows Logon page (Applying computer settings... screen) - about 5-10 minutes again.

All firmware (LCC, BIOS, HBA SAS, etc...) are up to date.

I'm using Windows 2008 R2 SP1 on it. All SAS cables and the card are correctly connected to myTL4000.

System Setup : BIOS not UEFI mode

Everyone has an idea, i'm going to be crazy...

Thank you in advance.

Adding a PERC H310 to an existing R630

Had a customer purchase an R630 a few months back. They bought the system with only one hard drive.

The system is in production.

They have been provided an PERC H310 and an additional hard drive. But I believe if the PERC card is installed, along with the additional hard drive, and they try to setup a mirrored pair all the data on the running hard drive will be lost.

Please advise

Got PE1950 genII(s) for home lab vms, power saving?

I'm looking to run one PE1950 at a time (appears to be using 200w) with One Dual Core 3.0ghz xeon.

However upon ESXi installation I've lost power management, without any VMachines loaded the fans are now going up and down.

One system is fully up to date (with ESXi loaded)

The other isn't up to date, however even with full load the fans never really kicked up as the 2.3.7 bios/current firmware one does- so if I can't get power management I suppose I can swap to it since it runs at one fan speed pretty much.

In linux I had the processors going 3.0ghz -> 2.0ghz, that actually kept the server cooler then my i5 desktop.

(I know I know, need to get replacement servers for these in a few months- I may buy one or two quad core power saving cpus to replace the current ones if anybody has suggestions)

Missing DUP for SEAGATE Constellation ES.3 4 TB NLSAS

Not all of my servers can run OMSA. I have noticed, that the SEAGATE ST4000NM0023 drives in the OMSA servers have received the firmware update to version GS0F from this package:

SEAGATE_Constellation_ES_3_4TB_NLSAS_512N_EC_7_2K_RPM_componentid_30688-a06-1

I am missing a normal Dell Update Package with this firmware version that I could install on the machines without OMSA. The latest release of Dell Nautilus Firmware Update Utility is A13 and it contains firmware GS0D for this disk.

PowerEdge C6105 doesn't boot after LSI Controller added

We have several C6105 servers and all of our Nodes are running the same LSI 9260-8i add-in RAID controller. We recently purchased another C6105 and removed the In Mezzanine slot: LSI® 2008 6Gb SAS mezzanine and replaced with the In PCIe slot: LSI 9260-8i add-in RAID controller. After making this hardware change the Node simply flashes the Hard Drives but won't power on. I have been able to duplicate this issue on a second node using and a second PCIe LSI card. Also this may be nothing, but the fans seem to be running a lot faster now as well.

Prior to the hardware swap the Nodes were configured and running ESXi 5.0 without issue.

Supported Memory Speeds Poweredge R710

Will the Dell Poweredge R710 support Up to 1600MHz Memories? As [Manufacturer Part# : SNP20D6FC/16G | Dell Part#:A6994465] is compatible with R710?

M910 IDSDM not in BIOS, can't enable SD card mirroring.

I have an M910 with the latest 2.10 BIOS.

I can boot off an SD card in the lower IDSDM slot and I can see a vFlash card in the upper slot in IDRAC 6 (3.65). However, IDRAC does not list any firmware version for the IDSDM so far as I can see.

I have read the poweredge-idsdm-whitepaper and everything else I can find about the IDSDM, which isn't much.

I want to enable SD card mirroring. The option to do this should be under "Internal SD Card Port" in the BIOS but this option is not there. The visibility of this option is supposed to depend on "Internal USB Port" being on. I've tried it both ways.

How can I get this option to show up? Or is there any other way to enable SD card mirroring?
