Hello. I have a Poweredge 1900 Server, we upgraded the memory from 4GB to 16GB.
The problem is that when I restarted the server it still only sees 4GB. What am I missing??
Thanks for any help.
This server has been sitting for about 8 months, and the last time I used it it was running fine. It was not connected to any power in that downtime.
It has 2x2core Xeons and 8x2GB RAM.
I decided to set it up in my rack today for a project and it would not power on at all, throwing E141C CPU Mismatch. After some troubleshooting I concluded that neither CPU would work in Socket 2, and both CPUs would work in Socket 1. Ok, I'll just run it with one CPU then...
Now it is powering up but I'm not getting any display via VGA ports and it's throwing a code for E2011 Mem Config Error. I tried all sorts of different combinations of installing those RAM modules including a single module in slot 1. If any RAM is installed in this server I get E2011, and if no RAM is installed I get the code for no RAM detected.
I moved the NVRAM jumper over, booted, shut down, moved jumper back. Same issue.
What could the problem be? I can't even get this thing to display anything I don't even know if it's posting. Worked fine last time I played with it which makes this even more frustrating.
I am running my t410 as a desktop and for live video recording (fastest pc I've ever had). some video editing software won't run due to the *** integrated card. I bought this for slot 5 (Dell ATI Fire GL V3100 128MB DVI VGA PCI-E Video Card) and it fits but when I boot up it says "slot 5 PCIe error "system halted". I am not a geek so forgive me if it's something obvious. The card was used but "tested". Lost!
Hi, i don't know the depth of the server so i don't know which rack i can but that will fit this server if anyone knows please reply asap i have the power edge 2950 g2 will a 80cm rack be ok? without bazzel and would a 60cm be ok also?
Hello everyone,
Lately I decided to upgrade my server's memory to 28GB.
I just tried to put it in my server and it gave me a warning that the memory configuration was not supported.
I started to search on the internet how to put the memory in and I can't find the answer so I hope you guys can help me out.
The memory I have is the following:
3 x 4GB 2R ECC Registered 1066MHz
2 x 8GB 2R ECC Registered 1066MHz
In this server I have installed 2 processors (Intel Xeon E5620)
So far I've found out that the memory configuration on both processors has to be identical so I decided to try again with 2 x 4GB and 2 x 8GB and did still not succeed.
I've tried multiple configurations but can't find one which works.
Does anyone know if it is possible what I'm trying to achieve and if so how to achieve it?
Thanks in advance,
Olivier Smet

Does anyone know of anywhere to find spare part numbers or alternate part numbers for PowerEdge model parts?
Thanks
My church has a Dell PowerEdge T100 purchased by our Youth Minister. He thought that because it was x64 that it would be able to support virtualization but the E2180 process will not work for virtualization. So, the question is: Can I upgrade the process or the T100 with another processor that will allow it to be virtual capable (i.e. VT )? If so, what processors can I upgrade to?
I have a T420 server and it keep tell me to update the PSU Firmware and when I do it it does not upgrade.
I have updated using dell lifecycle manager and after the reboot it say it has not updated
I have run the upgrade from within Windows and again it says it has been successful but after the reboot it has not upgrade
What I'm I doing wrong?
I had heard that Dell would stop flagging non-Dell drives as "non-critical", but I don't see the firmware update or OpenManage update that will list them as status "OK".
Where is the new firmware?
Not every user will want to buy Dell drives. The only fair thing to do is to allow that without throwing an error.
I am trying to install a fresh server but i cannot make it connect to network , pxe boot or esxi none of them able to see the network other blades on this chassis having esxi work normally. Please advise possible troubleshooting or any updates which can fix this issue.
Thanks
I am trying to monitor local and remote accesses to numa regions on PowerEdge R820 using Intel PCM 2.8; however, I am facing the following errors:

After browsing I found the following link that mentions this error is arising from hardware and there should be an option in the bios to enable the access but I do not find it.
Any idea how I can solve this issue?
Hello everyone,
Yesterday I decided to update all the firmware on my dell Poweredge T410 server with a dell repository manager bootable dvd created for this system.
As far as I can tell all firmware has been updated but on startup I now get the following message in the upper right corner: "System services update required".
I don't know how to fix this and I am not able to find out how to resolve this problem.
The operating system I'm using is the dell customised vmware ESXI 5.5 U2.
Thank you very much in advance,
Olivier Smet

Hi,
I have a t610 power edge server, after powering down the server and restarting it, the control panel stopped working. (nothing being displayed and the on/off power button doesn't respond either.
We then checked the power supply led health lights and they are on full green (no indication of a problem) the led light o the motherboard is also lighting up full green (no indication of a error)
I have tried plugging in an cross over Ethernet cable to the idac service port but the led lights do not turn on (not recognising or responding to the cable) when I plug the cable into my laptop it too doesn't recognise the cable and no led light turns on etc...
Please Help Urgently!
Hello,
I have a Dell R815 machine that will no longer boot properly. Every time I try and power on the machine, I can make it past the Dell splash screen but shortly after the machine will reboot itself.
The error on the machine's LCD screen is as follows: CPU Machine Chk: Processor sensor, transition to non-recoverable was asserted.
I ran the hardware diagnosis tools there were already installed on the machine and got the error code: 2900:0221. The text that went along with the error code was: System Firmware: Processor sensor (CPU Machine Chk) transition to non-recoverable.
Any advice to help with this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Casey
We recently purchased a PowerEdge T430 server with full support. The total package was nearly $16,000. I was lied to before the purchase about signing up for a dell advantage account. I was told that I would get a percentage back to be used toward the purchase and that a Dell gift card would be issued and also applied to the purchase. Further, I have spoken to the team that will be helping with the Exchange server transition from the old server, but they informed me they would only be helping with Exchange. I specifically asked for support for the entire transition BECAUSE the current server has a corrupted operating system and quite frankly, I wasn't sure a migration would even be possible. So, I left voicemails with my rep, sent an email to his supervisor as well as to several other people I have worked with at Dell with NO response whatsoever. I have probably purchased 80 dell servers and possibly 200 dell desktops and I have never been treated like this. What is going on? How in the world can you accept that much ,money and ignore the customer? If there was a possibility of sending the server back now, I would in a heartbeat. And honestly, if things don't improve, this will be the last dell purchase I ever make. So, who do I call to get heads rolling??????
I have a Dell VRTX with M620 Blades. In the future, I will bring the Dell VRTX down briefly for firmware updates (PERC8, Mainboard, Expander).
After doing the above firmware updates, I would like to update the NIC Firmwares (Broadcom BCM5719 & Intel 10G 2P X520-k bNDC). How to do you perform these NIC firmware updates? I see no method of doing these updates using either the VRTX Chassis CMC or M620 iDRAC's. Do you make some sort of boot disk with the appropriate drivers on it? What is a basic procedure for doing these firmware updates?
Thanks in Advance.
R510 Description: A bus fatal error was detected on a component at slot 3, what is slot 3?
The server is a 4 bay non hot swap with 3 drives in RAID5 on a PERC S300, the 4th channel has a 1TB SSD on it. I've updated the drives from 500GB to 1TB's and installed Server 2012 R2 SP2. I have had 2 of these errors in the last 2 days and need to know what to address.
I'm thinking slot 3 is the PCI express bus, maybe PCI3ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller can anyone confirm and suggest what to do?
Hi,
We need to verify what System profile is active on Dell powerEdge R720; the only way is during boot at Bios setting or we could find information by iDrac signon ?
Thanks and best regards Umberto
