I have 2 R720 servers clustered with a powervault FC DAS. I downloaded a bios update, both servers were running 2.2.3 and the update is 2.5.2 The first host updated without a hitch and is running 2.5.2. The second server fails almost immediately as the BIOS update begins, with error: Execution Status: System Services is disabled.
Any idea what I need to do to resolve this?
I recently purchased a T20 server and found it had RAID capabilities in the BIOS settings, is this correct? If so, what are the RAID options available? I could not find any mention of a RAID adapter in the system spec's. Does this setting in the BIOS function only if you have a RAID card installed in one of the PCI slots?
2 of the 4 HDD caddy lights (green) are stuck on? I've changed them around and changed drives around, but no luck. Everything works correctly, HDD's are good. Mostly just an annoyance. Any tips would be appreciated.

I found on the web only the cable with the Part-no Y1MGK. Is this correct?

Can anybody help me out. I have bought a Dell PE R910 with 4 HDD backplane card. I want to add 16x hdd backplane card. What cards or cable I have to buy for the up gradation. Kindly suggest any solution.
I am having trouble installing an updated version of the broadcom netexteme II bcm5709c for our Dell Poweredge R610 running server 2008R2 x64 bit. We had Kaspersky Anti-virus installed on this system and I removed it. Upon removing this, now when I restart the server each time, I get a yellow triangle on the network icon. I can get this to regain network communication but if you restart the server, I get the yellow triangle again. The only way I can get this to work temporarily is to break the team and only have one nic running, uninstall all network drivers and have the device manager find the nics again. Even with only one nic running, I still get the same issue. I tried to update the driver from dell but the server will blue screen and I have to restart with last known configuration. Does anyone have any ideas on how to repair the network drivers? Should I manually remove the drivers and try reinstalling the driver again? This is one of our domain controllers so its hard to just keep trying different things. Anyone seen this before or have any suggestions? My only other option would be to try and upgrade to server 2012 this summer in a hope that this will fix the network issue.
For some reson we have to strip one processor from the server, so wanted to have advice for using memory slots we have 4 x 2 GB of RAM available in the box.
I attended the Dell training for the Force10 Networking gear. A question came up regarding the MXL cards and I wanted to get user forum feedback. I have two MXL cards in a single MXL chassis. These cards will get connected to two Cisco 4507 switches using a VSS. IS it best practice to form a iVLT between the two MXL cards or to stack them together. Ultimately there will be 4 chassis daisy chained together. Not sure if that info helps at all.

I installed a Nvidia Quadro FX 580 in my T710 this morning, I can see it in Device Manager and it says, "Device Cannot Start". I have not yet disabled the onboard VGA adapter in the BIOS on the server and the monitor only works on my onboard VGA port...
My question is, do I just disable that onboard VGA to force it to use the card I installed? My fear is that once I disable that onboard VGA, if the new card is not initialized I will have no active display adapter and will not be able to get back into the BIOS to re-enable the onboard VGA if there is a problem. Is that a concern? Or should I just go ahead and disable it?

I was given a server to play with by work since we're replacing our servers.
As you can see I've updated the firmware already but it still doesn't work in Firefox. However it works fine in IE11. It "should" work in FF since the client is java based AFAIK. I get a **"Error during XSLT transformation: An unknown error has occurred ()".** As soon as I click on the console tab. Has anyone experienced this?

Hello - I am in the process of deploying a Dell PE FX2 and I am having some issues with the LAN connection.
Config -
4 FC630 Blades with ESXi 5.5 on each
A1/ A2 - 8 1GBE PASS-THROUGH MODULES on each I/O Module = 16 Total
PCI Slot 1,2,4,6,8 each have a Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T2
iDRAC also set up on each Blade server
CMCs also setup in Redundant mode.
I can PING the iDRAC and CMC IP address but I cannot PING the ESXi Host.
As I understand we should be using Ports 3,4 on A1 (A2 is the Failover) and PCIe 5,6 should be the connections for the SAN?
The ESXi Host sees something connected to it when a patch cable is plugged into Port 3. It displays Connected next to the NIC in the ESXi Management Network Config but I cannot PING the Host and the Host cannot PING the Gateway.
Any ideas?

I have 2 C6100 servers that are currently giving me major problems. An itemized list of the problems all seem related though to the BMC.
1) When booting I noticed during POST that there is a message that says "BMC not responding".
2) When booting to the BIOS and I select "IPMI configuration" the server reboots or the BIOS freezes up entirely until rebooted (soft or hard).
3) IPMI drivers don't load anymore on the host OS, unable to do anything with ipmitool.
Both servers started doing this during an attempt to flash a firmware update to the BMC, which we got from here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/poweredge-c6100/drivers
After the upgrade attempt the devices got stuck in maintenance mode, so we drained flea power, reset the CMOS, following instructions from previous articles on C6100. BIOS updates seem to work just fine as long as the IPMI drivers are working, but not we can't even get the BMC to respond at all, it's totally inaccessible.
Should we try resetting the CMOS again? Is there a way we can flash without using the OS (or should we just not update the firmware at all)?
Would like to know if these boards are salvageable or if we are better off replacing them.

I have a PowerEdge R510 and would like to buy a second processor (Xeon E5620). I found several sites selling "Dell Intel Xeon E5620" processors, with Mfg Part Nr. 317-5043. I also found a lot of Intel Xeon E5620 processors, with Intel Part Nr., much cheaper. So I would like to know if I need to buy a "specific" Dell processor?

I have 12 x 4gb total ram. 6 x 4gb each CPU dimm.
when booting up bios shows CPU2 B1-B9 slot all disabled so in BIOS only shows 24GB memory.
Could it be motherboard issue? i have confirmed it is not due to faulty memory.
alternatively can i fill 9 x 4GB to CPU1 dimm and leave CPU2 dimm blank? In windows i still seeing two processors though.
One of my colleagues has a PowerEdge R710 and is looking for something very specific. Basically, he needs a compatible nic to connect directly to an ISP fiber connection that is 1Gb. Can anyone out there direct me to what type of dual port 1Gbe fiber nic that supports single mode lx 1Gbe trancievers? I have scoured the internet to no avail. Also if there are 10Gbe fiber nics that will still take and work with 1Gbe sfp lx trancievers (not sfp+) that will also work, we can go that route as well. So I just got my Dell Power Edge 1950 III and I need help urgently. I have a SAS 146GB 15K RPM Drive and it will not detect at all. When I try to install Ubuntu it does not detect the drive, when I try to install 2012 server it does not even let me load the OS shows a error. All I have done is took the server out of its box, HDD and DRAC5 already installed. Turned it on with DVD+R in drive with ISO Bootable Media on it and it boots up the media after a while but will not detect my drive. I need help please.
