Hi,
Really need some help here please. Background: I am a software developer mainly, but needed a windows server for developments, testing etc. I have installed OS on other servers, pcs, laptops etc no problems but never with hardware raid 1.
I have a new powedge T110 running raid 1 with 2 1 tb disks. It came with no OS. I have installed windows server 2008r2. After I installed windows I had forgot to partition the drive before hand to have an operating system(c) and data (d) so I shrunk c to 200gb and with the unallocated space then created d with it. All great ... so I though but then I tried to run windows backup which failed. So after searching decided to convert the OS 1.99gb(which actually later I found to be virtual) to ntfs but this didn't work then I formatted it by accident. So know I believe it was important and needed. Can someone please have a look at the image and say if it looks ok, baring in mind the os labelled 1.99gb healthy (primary partition) is now empty and does nothing unlike whatever it used to do before formatting it (wish I hadnt)
Other problems are:
- windows backup still not working
- if I plug in a usb 3 tb usb 3 drive the server only ever goes to boot manager and unless I physically unplug the usb it wont start. I think it may have something to do with the above???. Which is very annoying as how can I backup a system to a drive that if I need to restart the server I would have to unplug a drive and plug back in once windows loaded. Which is not feasibly as need to use it remotely too.
windows backup errors:
- The backup operation attempted at '2013-07-09T08:44:39.411525700Z' has failed to start, error code '2155348061' (Windows Backup cannot find any of the backup storage locations.). Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.
- The backup operation that started at '1601-01-01T00:00:00.000000000Z' has failed because no backup storage location could be found. Please confirm that the backup storage location is attached and online, and then rerun the backup operation.
- say OS volume in wrong format: guess this means it should be NTFS (but a#like I said I did that and it still didn't work and stupidly formatted it again to fat32 losing all dell stuff on it, I don't know what it was for but it had 2 folders $system volume information and $recyble.bin like all drives.)
Thanks Jonathan
