I lost the main drive in my server, put a new one in, inserted the server 2008 r2 install disc that came with it and fired it up. Setup started out fine but then gave me an error stating that it could not find the licensing information and kicked me out. The only other disc in the system (which is also bootable) is running windows 7 home premium. Is there an "image" file available for my server, or what is the trick to getting my system running again. I'd like to run 2008 r2 web server and enable the desktop experience features then upgrade ram and graphics for use as a secondary gaming platform. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

PowerEdge R710 HDD predicted failure on new disk
I replaced a failed disk about 6 weeks ago; and now this week the new disk is showing as having a predicted failure in OpenManage.
What could be the cause for this? Surely it's not just a coincidence. All of the others have been fine to date.

Old PowerEdge 1800 - How can I get the configuration?
Dear all,
I need to know the exact configuration/features of an old product: Dell PowerEdge 1800 with Service Tag [removed per privacy policy].
Unfortunately I can't get information from the Premier Page, maybe because the product was bought in 2005 and it is out of warranty.
Is there an alternative way to information about the system configuration?

R730 "Configuring Memory........Done" hang
Hi all,
I have an R730 system with original (1.0.4) bios, and I can't get it to boot past this point with even a minimum configuration of DDR4 DIMMs. Is it possibly a problem with too new of a CPU? Were there components that weren't compatible with the original bios that were added in later revisions?

PE 620 Memory upgrade
I currently have all 24 memory slots populated with 16Gb ddr3 12800 rdimm (dual ranked) 1.5V memory modules.
After reading the 4+ page support manual detailing memory support for the r620, I believe that I will need to purchase 8 - 32Gb ddr3 rdimm (dual ranked) 1.5 memory modules. I would then remove 8 of the current ones and replace them. The 32Gb ones would then be in the white a1-a4 and b1-b4
I actually found (for a second) a nemix memory module that was everything I wanted but ddr3 17000.
My questions are:
What is the minimum number of 32gb sticks that I can use for my 2 processor r620 for upgrade?
If I go with higher rated memory (ie. ddr3 14900,15000, or 17000) will it clock down to match the current memory?
Does anyone have a part number of a known working memory stick that would work?

Unable to create a partition on RAID 5 (PowerEdge R720)
Hi
We have PowerEdge R720 Server on which RAID 5 is configured (4 Hard Drives of 1TB each). Disk Management is showing 2 Partitions (System Partition, and C Partition) and 2 Unallocated Portions (1948GB and 745 GB). The problem is that Disk Management Utility is not allowing to create New Volume on Unallocated Portion having capacity 745 GB.

12th Generation iDRAC Firmware
One of our techs installed iDRAC firmware version 2.43.43.43 on an R720 server via the web upload method.
I know that this version has not been released for 12th gen servers - only 13th gen. Previously, the firmware payloads have been exactly the same size between the 2 server generations.
Will there be any issues if we leave the new firmware in place?

EZK-UPC-61 RAID controller
I have 6 1TB drives in a blade server that are presently in a RAID 0 configuration in the PERC 6/I utility. I can't seem to be able to change this configuration. I select Controller 0 and I get "Configuration is not allowed!" "ERROR Code : Unknown". I am really new at this can anyone help?

Mount Issue on Dell R420
Please see attached. New (refurbished technically) Dell R420, plus 4 x 8TB brand new SATA drives as well. Anytime I try to boot off virtual media (Rockstor NAS software), I get this issue. Anyone have an idea what it might be?
It *does* have a hardware RAID controller which I've already set up and initialized.

PowerEdge 2950, Can't install OS from anything other than disk drive
Hello. This is probably really simple, but I'm trying to install either Windows Server 20XX (doesn't matter which version), or Ubuntu 16.04 on my PowerEdge 2950. I have enabled all USB ports in the BIOS. The flash drives I've tried show up under boot options under the Hard Drive option, but once I select it, it just hangs there forever. The OS installation drives are both legacy boot friendly, and boot from other computers just fine.
To troubleshoot, I created an Ubuntu DVD, installed the OS, and checked to see if any type of drive showed up when I plugged them in to the USB ports. I tried both of the bootable flash drives and an external SSD, but no additional file systems appeared.

Problem with updating firmwares on Dell T110
Hi, i've recently got a T110 server (starting a homelab) and before installing an OS i'd like to update the machine's firmwares. Following the instructions found on a pdf on your website, i've downloaded the appropriate .iso file from box.com (1,1gb) and created a bootable usb drive with Rufus. I've booted into it and let it run. Most of the updates failed stating "Inventory collection failed" and also when it's POSTing it says in the upper right corner of the screen "System Services Update Required". What can i do to make sure it's all updated and functional? What did i do wrong? I'd wish i could attach a log file but i can't find anything on the usb drive.
Also, i'm very confused by all the Dell tools like iDRAC, LCC, OMSA, SUU, DSU, etc. Why there are so many tools? Is there a guide for newbies? Thanks in advance.

Adding a second PERC H330 to T330
Can I add a second PERC H330 to my T330 and then put SSDs in the 5.25" slots (making use of mounting brackets)? Obviously these wouldn't hotswappable. But is there any reason it wouldn't work? I suppose heat may be an issue.

I've just received new Dell PowerEdge R230 server and noticed that I've ordered configuration without hot-swap HDD. Is it possible to order hot-swap backplane separably, or could someone at least tell me part-number for 4*3.5" hotswap assembly for this server ?
