I have a DELL PowerEdge R730, and I would like to use it with an added graphical card. The system correctly boot and I can install my Centos without problem, but I have to use the integrated GPU.
I spent a long time in the BIOS in order to change the GPU but without success. The "Current State of Embedded Video Controller" is Enable and no possibility to change it. The state of the "Embedded Video Controller" produces nothing. However the card seems to be recognized because when I do an hardware detection I found my NVIDIA card on the slot 6.
I spend a lot of time to find a solution or a similar problem without success, I hope to fix my problem from your advice.
I'm waiting for your answer.
Best regards. Thomas Bertinotti Engineer at Therapixel.
I have a T300 that I'm trying to install 4 sticks of 4GB 5300P RAM into. I install the RAM, but get an invalid memory config error. Looking at the manual, the RAM section lists 12GB and 24GB, with the only 4GB option listed being all 4GB for 24GB RAM. Is that the only way this machine supports 4 GB sticks? Thanks!
We have an R620 that showed OS-freezes, most probably due to deeper C-States allowed from the intel_idle driver from Ubuntu14.04LTS. By setting kernel boot parameter intel_idle.max_cstate=0 the lower c-states are not reached anymore, however, c0-states are not 100% (as displayed in the pcm-sensor(Intel) in ksysguard, so C1/C1E are active. I saw a power increase by 30 W (180W -> 210W) under 0 load by setting the intel_idle.max_cstate=0.
Does anybody know
1) what was the exact Errata-entry from Intel (E5-2600-v2) that caused the deeper C-state problems
2) whether the bios 2.5.2 microcode could fix something, so that I do not need the intel_idle.max_cstate=0 setting
3) what more can I do in the Bios-settings etc. to recover better performance/watt
I have updated the firmware and drivers using the latest SUU 15.4 with one exception. The NIC drivers don't appear to be present in the package. The server has two NetXtreme BCM5720 Gigabit Ethernet nics. When I look in the available drivers for the server, a T620, there are options to download the users guide but no drivers. There are driver packages available for the QLogic BCM57xx and BCM57xxx 64bit Windows drivers, family version 19.0. Are those the correct drivers? Any clarification would be appreciated.
I would need to configure idrac8 on few rack servers, and like to know if internet connection is required on the client system to access the idrac console ?
We have a really odd requirements with a mushkin scorpion deluxe card which requires 15 pin sata power cable and I cannot seem to find a single sata power cable any where.
The server that we ordered has additional 6 pin gpu connectors can these be converted to sata power cable (only able to find vice-versa).
I have a PowerEdge 2900 with three 73GB hard drives on the front. Two of them have the predictive failure light blinking. I have purchased two identical drives for replacement, but am not sure where to go from here.
I should first mention that I'm an engineer responsible for the production line that is attached to this server, and not an IT guy. Our IT department will not touch this Server because it is not their responsibility.
I've done some research, and it looks like Dell OpenManage Applications software is very helpul. I can't find this software on the computer. I can install it, but am nervous about affecting the production line. The production line will shut down if a program on the server stops. Is the software required? Can I install without needing a reboot?
The hardware is Perc 6/i SCSI.
Are these drives hot-swappable.
I took a look at the drives through Explorer, they are as follows:
C: 19.7GB,
G:12GB,
H:12GB,
I:91.6GB.
Does this make sense with having all three drives being 73GB?
Is it as simple as hot swapping a failing drive and replacing it with a new drive and it fixes itself automatically? Then, when the first drive is complete, doing it with the second one?
I would like to know how can I map the physical nic of m620 server to the switchport of m8024-k switch. We tried to used simple mode and with the same group id for all but each server wasn't able to ping the other switch.
We recently purchased a 2nd hand Poweredge T410 only to discover that the door was locked and the keys were not provided with the sale. how do I go about opening this thing without destroying the door?
I came here for help regarding remote connectivity to my server. I just bought poweredge 2800 server, I did every required configuration including raid and system installation. After that I try to initiate remote web access to my server and I still can't get it work. I went to configuration of my server and set static ip, gateway, mask after that I tried to login to it via browser from different pc within my network during poweredge on standby mode. Unfortunetly I cannot get connection to it (I put https://ipAddress). I went again to this configuration and tried also either with static or dhcp client option including my home router configuration for this ip but no one is working for me. I don't have more idea what I am doing wrong. Can please help me out please?
I acquired some 2950s and went to upgrade the firmware on them. First server the BIOS and the BMC. Those rebooted as required fine. I then upgraded the DRAC, PERC and maybe something else I can't remember. None required a reboot. I then rebooted. The fans spin, front panel lights up blue and does it's scrolling text, but that's all that happens. Ideas?
Hi, I have a dell 1950 with a Broadcom/Qlogic BCM5708 nic running ESXi 5.5 that disconnects after a few hours. If I shut the interface on the ESXi side and bring it back up then it starts working again. This is a 2 port Card but I see the problem only with 1 of the Nic's.
I have updated the drivers and firmware but it has not helped. The old driver and firmware were
driver: bnx2 version: 2.2.5f.v55.6 firmware-version: bc 4.4.1 UMP 1.1.9
# esxcli network nic list Name PCI Device Driver Link Speed Duplex MAC Address MTU Description ------ ------------- ------ ---- ----- ------ ----------------- ---- ------------------------------------------------------------- vmnic0 0000:005:00.0 bnx2 Up 1000 Full 00:19:b9:e6:91:d6 1500 Broadcom Corporation Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T vmnic1 0000:009:00.0 bnx2 Up 1000 Full 00:19:b9:e6:91:d8 1500 Broadcom Corporation Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T #
I have gone through quite a few links related to the BCM5708 and one of the links suggested I turn of MSI-X in vmware.
I have since reverted back because it did not help and I also read somewhere that MSI-X does not apply to the BCM5708.
There were some other articles related to the BCM5708 and changing the Rx Buffer ring size value as per this URL "support.qlogic.com/.../2756;popup=true". The above setting did not help either. I went as high as 4080. The default was 255.
The weird thing is that I have another server with the exact same hardware specs but it runs an older firmware and driver which I cannot seem to find and that's working fine. Just for reference the other working server (separate physical server) has the following firmware
Strangely the working server does not mention anything about UMP, which I believe is Universal Management Port, so am wondering if that is what is causing issues because even after updating firmware on the non-working server the UMP version has not changed. I believe BMC & IPMI are disabled on the non-working server but regardless the settings for that portion are similar across both devices except for the firmware version of the BMC which is lower on the working device. These are the settings for BMC on the non-working device

Can someone please advise what the issue might be and why is it that every few hours the VM associated with this vmnic0 get disconnected. vmnic1 on this same non-working server appears to be running absolutely fine without any issues. Thanks
I updated the firmware today on my R820 server, which I have done on several other Dell PE's of similar if not the same model. This time something odd happened. The whole unit powered off and wouldn't come back on. I left it there for quite a few minutes to see if it was just doing it's thing and would power itself back on. The front of the server had lost power completely. I couldn't get the power button to work or anything. Eventually, I had to pull the plugs and then plug it back in and I was able to fire it up again.
Well, now I get a power supply configuration error detected error on boot. If I look at OpenManage, it says that PS1 is fine, gives me the readings, etc. If I look at PS2, it says NA for everything except it says Presence Detected Configuration Error.
They were both working fine prior to this update, so I dont know what happened.
Any way to resolve this for the power supply in question?
I know that with PowerEdge servers (and some others), the letter "R" stands for Rack server (for example, PowerEdge R720) , the letter "T" stands for Tower (as in T110).
we have the Dell Power Edge R720 Server and have install Xen server 6.5 but we are facing the subjected issue on the server, your guidance is required in this regard..
