24-ports Digium analog card on Dell R620

Hello,

I have search thoroughly but to no avail maybe someone could help.

I have a DELL Poweredge R620 (ST: Svc Tag removed by moderator) and I'm planning to purchase online and install a 24 port modular analog PCI-Express x1 card 1AEX2406EF from Digium.

I would like to know whether there is any known compatibility issues? Digium has directed me to Dell Support.

Regards and thanks a lot,
Ashvin

r730xd excessive fan speed

I added a PCIe card to my r730xd.  The fans went from 3,800 RPM to 17,000.

The Lifecycle log showed:

PCI3018

Message
New PCI card(s) have been detected in the system. Fan speeds may have changed to add additional cooling to the cards.

The suggested solution to this is:

If a lower fan speed is required, contact your service provider for the appropriate IPMI commands to reduce the default fan speed response for new PCIe cards.

I have been working with my local Dell service contact but they so far are not able to provide me with the IPMI sequence I require to not scream the fans.

FWIW, my t410 has the pair of this card (a Mellanox 40/56GB dual port card) and it has not adjusted the fans in the least.  Mellanox describes this as a low power card.  Whenever I remove it from the screamer, the heat sink is not even warm to the touch.

Anyone have any luck getting this info?

Updating BIOS of R710 Appliance

Our Engineering dept. has a PowerEdge R710 that appears to have been some sort of McAfee appliance which has a McAfee BIOS.  I'd like to know if it'd be possible to install a Dell BIOS without turning the box into a oversized brick.

The bottom line is they'd like to use it as an ESXi server.  I was able to install ESXi 5.5 onto it, but I've got concerns about whether there would be an issue running it with a McAfee BIOS.  Strange request.

Thanks

Memory is not optimized

I upgraded our R715 servers from 16 4 GB 1333 Mhz RAM chips to 16 8GB 1600 MHz chips. Updated the Bios and changed the System Setting from 1.35v to 1.5v. When the system boots up it still shows 1333MHz and gives a warning "The installed memory is not Optimized".

Any help would be great.

Some lights won't show on poweredge 1850, server won't post to display either.

A few days ago.. for 50 bucks I got a Dell Poweredge 1850.. for 50 bucks. Its a really old server. When we got it, the seller was showing it working fine with a monitor before we picked it up. I believe on the HDD bay a light is supposed to show, and a blue light is supposed to flash blue without any on/off repeats, just steady light.. from what I have seen on youtube. It has 2 PSU's... for redundancy. Plugging in one should be just fine, I don't have a spare nearby outlet near the testing area to plug both at once. Problem is... when I plug it in(the fan is meant to spin when it's off, just the psu fan or fan's thats plugged in) the psu fan spins like its meant to. Thing is, a blue light that is meant to be steady on doesn't stay on steady. Also, some light that shows a pic of what looks like a battery as if it was on a laptop palmrest. But that shows a orange light for 3 seconds. When I power it on, all the fans spin, and the powerlight is on. I hear the HDD, but there is no HDD light. Also, I have a 50 foot ethernet cord going to it.. but idk if it has the drivers for it yet, I plan on reinstalling the OS to somthing that supports the drivers. But I have a 50 foot ethernet cord going to it just in case. So the blue light with a I symbol next to it. I have to press the button next to it for the light to show.. but when I do that, the light blinks for 1 second on, 1 second off.. and that repeats. I have a working monitor plugged into it.. this is the second monitor I have tested with it. On both VGA outputs(Well one of the monitors are huge and heavy, and it fell the other day, but still powers). Those are some unusual things, and the server doesn't show on the display. When we brought it, the seller had it running with a display working. I have opened it.. but that shouldn't be a issue. Idk whats going on, please help me! This vid isn't made by me, but heres a vid I found of some poweredge 1850's starting up.https://www.youtube....h?v=nahbn9iZ3Ks

Is the T420 becoming an orphan?

I'm looking for a power cable to hook up the aux power of a Quadro T4200... and I'm a bit shocked at the complete lack of useful information on the Dell site - are they killing off this product without telling us?  it seems that now you can't buy one online, so... what's the deal?  is this getting shuffled under a pile of rocks in some misguided reorganization?

We have a PowerEdge T610 that only has 4 GB of RAM.  There are 2 GB sticks in slots A1 and B1.  I have two more 2 GB sticks of the same speed that I'd like to add.  Can someone tell me which slots they should go in?

Thanks!

Dear All,

We currently have a PowerEdge T320 running two virtual servers on a Host. Since its implementation it has seemed always run slow with operations involving significant HDD use. I was wondering if there are any know issues with these systems.

Server: PowerEdge T320

Memory: 32gb

Raid : H710P

Raid Config: RAID 5 with 3x 15000 rpm 500gb drives

OS: Windows server 2012 (not R2) on all machines

Host: Just runs Hyper V

Virtual 1: AD, dns, dhcp, all other server operations

Virtual 2: Just SQL server

PowerEdge T110 II with Windows

Hi,

Here is my situation and I hope someone can help me.

Currently, at my work, there is a PowerEdge T100 running perfectly. Ubuntu is running. We use it as our router.

Now we would like to buy another computer that will have 2 roles:

1) be the computer in our meeting room running Windows and connected to a HD Tv. It should run skype smoothly and any meeting conference tool

2) be the backup of PowerEdge T100 in case it explodes. This requires to have 2 NIC intel dual pro (need 2 PCI x4 slots)

This new computer should be able to dual boot, Windows 99% of the time, and Ubuntu 1% of the time.

Is the PowerEdge T110 II the perfect match?

I check the manual and it has 2 PCI slots that matches:

SLOT1 PCIE_G2_X8 PCIe x8 half length

SLOT3 PCIE_G2_X4 PCIe x4 half length

But I'm wondering if I installed Windows 7 (or Windows 8), will it handle 1080p? Does it requires an extra graphic card?

Thanks

Maximum Storage Capacity

I have not been able to find a clear answer about the Dell (P/N: D9872) Adaptec 2610SA AAR-2610SA 64Mb Cerc-SATA 6CH Controller...

Details:

Dell Part Number: D9872

Description: 6 drive controller for the Dell PowerEdge 1800

While I can clearly see that the card supports 6 SATA drives, What is the maximum capacity supported for each drive?

Thank you in advance.

Dell Poweredge R510 memory upgrade

Hello.

There are two Dell Poweredge R510 servers with following configuration:

CPU: Intel Xeon X5675 (3.06GHz, 6C, 12Mb cache)

Additional CPU: Intel Xeon X5675 (3.06GHz, 6C, 12Mb cache)

64Gb RAM per 2CPU (8x RDIMM 8Gb Dual Rank LV) 1333MHz

We'd like to upgrade the servers with 128Gb RAM.

What is most suitable way to do it?

Can I just order 8 modules per 16Gb RAM and replace?

Thanks in advance for your help.

T610 memory only comes up as 800mhz.

Hello.

I have a Poweredge T610. I am using 4, 4 GB sticks of RAM. This memory is Dual rank, 1333mhz, Registered ECC.

I have dual CPUs and have the memory setup in Advanced ECC mode: Memory is in slots A2, A3, and B2, and B3.

From what I can tell from the manual here:

This setup should be running at 1067mhz, but it only comes up as 800mhz. I can't see a way to adjust this via the BIOS. Do I have something configured wrong, or is there something else I need to do to make the memory come up at the faster speed?

Thank you.

Dell R730 with consumer grade GPU

Hey,

Although it's officially not supported, would I be able to install a consumer grade GPU such as 980GTX or Titan X into one of those (Configured with a thermal profile for 2CPUs + GPU)?

I have done that before on R720 with GTX Titan and it works quite well. Is there anything that I should worry about (Such as space inside the server)?

Thanks,

Nick

Poweredge T410 Power Supply Replacement

$

I work for a small business and we recently replaced our thick client, and after talking to my boss I was given our old one, it is a Poweredge T410.

It has a bad power supply, the model of it is a N525e-00, appears to be a standard ATX power supply, I looked around inside and noted that the hard drive rack uses a proprietary connector, much like a 4 pin cpu power strip, and all of the cabling of the power supply is modular.

Looking up this power supply in particular, a replacement will run me a whopping $80, and its only 525W. While that's fine for what it used to do, I plan on this server replacing my current desktop; I'm throwing in more hard drives and a graphics card for games, so I will need more than that.

After some research I found that an 875W power supply out of a Precision T5400 will run me much less and provide the power I need. It also comes with a new wiring harness that appears to have more molex connectors and such. Its part number is N875E-00.

Can I install a N875E-00 and the T5400 wiring harness into my T410 and have it work?

Rail compatibility C1100 with CS24-NV7

Simple question would rails from a C1100 server match a CS24-NV7? Both servers are part of the Dell Cloud server range. I'm also not sure what PowerEdge range they are based off of if any.

Thanks

I want to raid them (Mirror 1) The server assist disk will only allow me to raid them maximum size. I wish to create a smaller mirror say 100GB. Any thoughts
