We have a Dell PowerEdge T410 that we purchased from Ebay. It has a Dell 6/iR RAID card along with 2 x 600GB SAS drives and the backplane board.
We need to connect the RAID card to the backplane board. So far we've tried a SAS to Mini-SAS cable which, whilst it physically connects ok, only one of the two hard drives gets detected by the RAID card. The two drives work fine on their own.
We called Dell and they advised that the T410 with the backplan must be used with a Dell Internal SAS cable (part number k7gv4) it's essentially a SAS to Mini-SAS cable, however Dell said that you cannot use just any SAS to Mini-SAS cable - it has to be the K7GV4.
Getting hold of one of these cables seems pretty much impossible.
Can anyone verify that the K7GV4 cable is in fact the right cable?
Thanks
