Background on this server. It has had both a motherboard replacement and a refurbished power supply replacement by Dell several years ago. It failed to start one morning with a Beep Code 1-3-1 indicating a memory error. It had been upgraded 6-8 months earlier from 1 GB to 4 GB. The old memory was placed back in the server. But the beep error remained the same.
It was placed aside and I have now gone back to this out of warrenty server. I purchased new memory 2-1GB EEC modules. The beep code remains the same. I purchased a dell refurbished motherboard. I tested again with the replacement motherboard. Yes, the beep error continued. The only remaining components are the CPU and power supply.
I suspect that the Dell refurbished power supply is not providing power to all portions of the motherboard but I have no way of testing. It does power on enough to give me the error code but no more. I don't want to buy a power supply unless it is certain that it will solve the issue since I have purchased both memory and a second motherboard. Can anyone assist in any way!
Thanks,
