Lost power over the weekend, long enough to drain the UPS that protects the server.
The UPS basically pulled the plug on the server. When it rebooted, it did not boot. On the console was
"iDRAC6 Communication Failure"
"Alert! iDRAC6 not responding. Power required may exceed PSU wattage.
Alert! Continuing system boot accepts risk that system may power down without warning.
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the system setup program."
Current BIOS was 1.42, and I upgraded to 6.3. No change.
I've been reading http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4469/t/19415104.aspx?PageIndex=2
At it's recommendation, I performed ALT+(E,F,B) to reset BIOS, and it did not change the result.
In my R710 RackMount Server, there is no iDRAC6 daughter card installed in the rear right corner. I presume it's somehow on the motherboard now. I do believe at one time I disabled it, so it did not consume an IP on my network, as I don't use the iDRAC.
Currently, the "Server Administrator" program cannot see find the "FRU", and the Fans are spinning on High. Otherwise, from what I can tell the server is functioning.
The front panel display does not respond to key presses, or anything...
