We have a dell PowerEdge R815 that is racked inside of a data center. At some point in the middle of the night the machine lost all connectivity. We called and got remote hands to take a look at the server and they reported that it was on and running, all that all indicator lights where lit up green (both Ethernet ports and both hardrives), and everything was plugged in. The machine would not respond to any pings and an nmap of the device said that there was no route to host.
With nothing left to lose we told the remote hands to go ahead and turn off the server and turn it back on. When it came back on connectivity was restored and the server has since functioned normally.
I know there is not a lot of information to go on here but could someone here tell me if this is a symptom of some sort of hardware problem and if so how would I go about checking that?
