Hi all,
I am hoping someone may be able to help. Currently we use Dell r620 hosts and EqualLogic arrays. These run a VMware cluster.
I am looking at perhaps moving to a blade array system, as it will save us in many areas in the long run. I have been given different bits of info and unfortunately our Dell account management team are not providing any clarity.
My plan is to initially purchase a chassis, single blade and EqualLogic blade. Then we can expand rapidly. Discussing with someone at Dell they said that we could perhaps initially purchase the following:
- M1000e chassis
- m620 blade
- m8024-k switch x2 (IO in a1/a2)
- equallogic ps-m4110
From the info I have it looks like this would give 10gb to each blade and EQL. Further info indicates that these 10gb ports can be divided in to multiple links, which I could then do 8gb for iSCSI, 1gb for mgmt and 1gb for vm traffic.
The external ports on the m8024 would then be connected to our Cisco core using 1gb fibre connections, brought together via etherchannel or similar.
My query is if this kit list is correct and that this scenario would work? Also do the m8024 switches need to be linked together in this scenario?
Is there anything that I have missed?
thanks in advance
Simon
