i have a pe2650 i am rebuilding as an exercise in learning ... and i can not get the bios loaded into the machine from the floppy i prepared (i have the correct bios for it and put it on a floppy disk as instructed) ... but i can not get the machine to the point where it will boot from the floppy ...
can someonw kindly tell me the protocal to install the bios and machine firmware from scratch? or refer me to an elementary tutorial about"how to install the bios from a floppy"??
My machine will not make it to the set up option ... (f2 never happens so i cant see the bios settings) ....it first says it had an error trying to "initialize the remote access controller (ie it can not load the ERA (embedded remote access controller) -- it says error initializing the era ... and moves on to load the firmware ... and says it cant find any firmware ... then it just stops ... and sits there with a curser blinking ....
i also have the original machine firmware on floppy ... i need to reinstall that too ...i have the original set up cd from dell ... so if i can just get the bios installed ... and the firmware in ... then i know how to do the rest of the installation to make the box work .... i just usually start with a machine that works ... thru the point of seeing the set up screens ... and this one does not do that ...
any help will be appreciated ...
