Have a strange one. Got 4 R510s that are pretty much identical, except two are 64GB and two are 16GB. Each PSU goes to a different UPS. One of the UPS' is connected to a generator that comes on 15-30 seconds after power goes out. Two are Windows 2003 R2 and two are Vmware 4.1 ESXi.
All 4 servers go down hard and come back up right after the power goes out. Done this in our last two power outages. This last outage was only 5 minutes, so both UPS' remained online. Never got alerts of PSU redunancy lost on my servers.
I have 3 other Dell servers (older R510 and a couple 2950s) connected to same UPS'. They never go down during my outages.
There is nothing in the System Administrator Hardware Logs. No PSU redundancy lost. Windows shows an unexpected shutdown occurred. In the Alert Logs, the first thing that shows is Server Administrator startup complete and then all of the normal controller logs.
None of the servers have had firmware/bios upgrades since late 2011.
Other than pulling the plug on both UPSes at the same time to mimic a power outage, I'm not sure what to do. I've moved each of the PSUs to their own PDU, which goes to a different port on the UPS. Not sure if this will do anything.
Any ideas?
