My T310 server got hit by lightning which sent a spike along my cable modem and eventually into my server.
It burned out one of the ports of the two available - the second port being unplugged.
I was so happy to find that second port operates and no other issues were detected on the server. I've been really happy with the server's performance and build quality.
Now I want to make sure I still have a backup port. My server spec sheet notes the following:
Network Adapter --
-- On-Board Dual Gigabit Network Adapter
-- [430-2008]
When I search Dell's website I can't find this part anymore.
I do find PCI card based dual port cards like the: Intel PWLA8492MT PRO/1000 MT PCI/PCI-X Dual Port Server Adapter
It has two ports. Do you think this would be a good choice?
If installed, do you think the current port would still be available - thus offering two backup ports?
