Hey folks,
I'm wondering if someone can steer me in the right direction. I volunteer as a sysadmin at a small school, and they have a PowerEdge 840 (no longer under warranty) that died yesterday. I called Dell support, ran thru whatever diags we could, and determined a new mobo and power supply would be a good idea. So the guy gave me the part numbers and then forwarded me a few places I could potentially buy them from. Sadly, it's the weekend and these places aren't open until Monday. I asked if this server WAS under warranty, could I get these parts overnight regardless of the weekend ... and he said 'sure'. So then I asked, so if it's possible to do, and the school is willing to pay whatever the costs would be, can we do this ... and I was told no. So anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has run into this before ... and how do I get 'warranty service' when a box is out of warranty? I mean, let's pretend for a moment that money is no object (even though it is!), it MUST be possible, right?
