Howdy,
I have two identical R610 servers. One is working fine and the other is throwing memory errors.
Both systems have the same number and size of memory sticks. They each has 8 x 8Gig sticks in slots A2, A3, A5, A6 and B2, B3, B5, B6.
On one of the servers I get errors during every boot that say MEMTEST lane failure detected on DIMM A3, and another for A2. It then says The following DIMM has been disabled and lists all of the "A" Dimms.
When I get into Windows it only recognizes half the memory that it should
When I compared settings, I found that in the server that's working fine, the Memory Mode was set to Advanced ECC. In the one that was NOT working fine it was set to Optimized. So, I changed it from Optimized to Advanced ECC.
After that boot, I got errors that said: Alert! Advanced ECC memory mode disabled! Memory configuration does not support Advanced ECC memory mode.
Does anyone know what would cause this? Why would one server work fine and the other one not when they are setup exactly the same way?
