I have a PowerEdge 1900 that has now developed a hardware problem. It is, of course, out of warranty...
It crashed without warning, and when I got to it there was an orange light flashing on the back of the case. I tried re-booting, but crashed again about 5 minutes after completing its disk checks. Now, it crashes before it completes its disk checks (i.e. it won't boot at all).
I have tried running Dell's "Express" diagnostics, which did not finish but did report several problems
Error code 2900:0221 System Firmware: Critical Interrupt Sensor (PCIE Fatal Error) Bus fatal error
Error code 12A3:2161: PCI Express Error
and, while checking disks, it locked up displaying (something like)
Error Code 4400:013A: Msg Blk 970017977
How do I find out what these codes mean? The messages said something like "Dell Technical staff will understand these messages"...
OK, it may be something to do with the PCI Express bus:-) But can I tell whether is it a problem with a PCIE express card, or the motherboard? Or something else on the PCIE bus? Or what??
