I have a Dell PowerEdge C2100 FS12-TY that has the back plane that feeds 8 drives from the SAS card and 4 from the on-board SATA controller. I am not sure what the part number is but I would like to replace the included SAS card with an IBM M1015 and replace the back plane with a 9NXC7 that includes an expander.
There are not a lot of details available on the 9NXC7, I know it has two SFF8087 ports and the C2100 user guide describes its connectors. I have a few questions.
1) Is there any documentation on this back plane?
2) Is it as simple as replacing it with my existing?
3) What speeds are supported? SATA II or III?
4) There are two SFF8087 ports, are they to support SAS multi-path or is one for connecting to the HBA and the other for cascading to another HBA?
Lastly, I would like to install a couple internal drives but the shroud is missing the grommets and screws, is there a hardware kit I can buy to replace them?
