Newbie question about 3rd party hardware with R710 server

Can I install a third party raid controller into an R710 server such as this one: LSI AVAGO 9201-16E

or this Dual TF Micro SD Card to Mini PCI-E Express

I am new to using Dell servers and I only have prior experience with Mac hardware. I purchased an R710 today and I am trying to understand if I can purchase third party PCI cards and expect them to work in this server.

I am planning to run the free version of ESXi on bare metal.
