Hi
I am a little confused as to the option I have with increasing RAM on a Dell R710 which currently has 32gb RAM with 8 x 4GB rdimms populating A2, A5, A3, A6 and B2, B5. B3, B6
I purchased some 4 x 4GB Crucial RAM that is compatible with the R710 as Dell apparently doesn't have the 4GB anymore. I put these in channel 1 in Slots A1,A4 and B1, B4 and whilst the system recognises the extra RAM I get warnings that it is unsupported as it is unbalanced.
I can get 8gb Dell rdimms but if I only buy 4 I can't balance the memory from what I have read so my options seem to be
Option 1 = buy 4 8gb rdimms and replace 4 of my existing 4gb rdimms giving 48gb RAM (A2, A3, B2, B3 have 8gb and A5, A6, B5, B6 have 4gb)
Option 2 = Replace all 4gb rdimms with 8gb giving 64gb RAM
Option 3 = buy 6 8gb rdimms and replace 2 of my exisiting 4gb rdimms giving 73gb RAM (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3 have 8gb and A4, A5, A6, B4, B5, B6 have 4gb)
Is this correct or are there other options
Thanks
Sohail
