New R530 won't accept Qlogic 7.12 57XX NIC firmware update or install drivers

I have a brand new R530 running Windows 2012r2.  Server is up to date with MS patches as of today (8/13).  BIOS is up to date with what's on the support web site for the R530.

I downloaded the newest firmware (7.12) and driver (19.01) updates available from Dell product support pages (system identified by service tag) for the Broadcom, now Qlogic, 57xx NICs.  The driver package will install along with the management utility (for creating teams, configuration, etc) but the NICs themselves still show the default Microsoft Broadcom drivers being loaded and the QCS utility will not let me create teams or modify NIC configurations (probably because I have the wrong drivers loaded).

When I run the firmware updater for 7.12, it tells me the "Update Package is not compatible with my system."    Strangely, if I run the 7.10 firmware updater it tells me that firmware is already installed.  I ran this update to see if it would change anything (possibly modifying the firmware to have a newer Qlogic vendor ID for the drivers to use) but it didn't change anything, and I still can't run 7.12 firmware update or get the system to load the v19.01 Qlogic drivers for the NICs.

I've tried various flavors of reboots, removing the NICs from device manager (always replaced with the MS driver).  The Qlogic 19.01 driver installer can't be unpacked (at least by me) to show individual driver files, so that old-school method of installation isn't available.

I opened a case and they had to escalate to L3 (no updates yet) but I thought I'd post all of this here to see if anyone has any ideas.
