Predictive Failure for Dummies

Hello,

I have a PowerEdge 2900 with three 73GB hard drives on the front.  Two of them have the predictive failure light blinking.  I have purchased two identical drives for replacement, but am not sure where to go from here.

I should first mention that I'm an engineer responsible for the production line that is attached to this server, and not an IT guy.  Our IT department will not touch this Server because it is not their responsibility.

I've done some research, and it looks like Dell OpenManage Applications software is very helpul.  I can't find this software on the computer.  I can install it, but am nervous about affecting the production line.  The production line will shut down if a program on the server stops.  Is the software required?  Can I install without needing a reboot?

The hardware is Perc 6/i SCSI.

Are these drives hot-swappable.

I took a look at the drives through Explorer, they are as follows:

C: 19.7GB,

G:12GB,

H:12GB,

I:91.6GB.

Does this make sense with having all three drives being 73GB?

Is it as simple as hot swapping a failing drive and replacing it with a new drive and it fixes itself automatically?  Then, when the first drive is complete, doing it with the second one?

All advice is appreciated and needed!!

Thanks in advance,

Andrew
