Hello,

I've had 2 days of getting this kind of alerts on my server logs from time to time. Here is an extract from today:

1152 Fri Mar 27 11:59:58 2015 Instrumentation Service Voltage sensor returned to a normal value Sensor location: PS1 Voltage 1 Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: Unknown Voltage sensor value (in Volts): 128.000
1152 Fri Mar 27 11:59:58 2015 Instrumentation Service Voltage sensor returned to a normal value Sensor location: PS2 Voltage 2 Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: Unknown Voltage sensor value (in Volts): 128.000
1151 Fri Mar 27 11:58:12 2015 Instrumentation Service Voltage sensor value unknown Sensor location: PS2 Voltage 2 Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: OK (Normal) Voltage sensor value (in Volts): 0.000
1151 Fri Mar 27 11:58:12 2015 Instrumentation Service Voltage sensor value unknown Sensor location: PS1 Voltage 1 Chassis location: Main System Chassis Previous state was: OK (Normal) Voltage sensor value (in Volts): 0.000

I started looking here because I noticed yesterday that the fan started going much faster without apparent reason. Today I found in the logs this message, that I'm almost sure correspond to the events I had. But I don't know what could be causing this.

The server is connected to a UPS, we haven't had any electrical problems lately, and the server keeps running fine. The first time I saw this I was configuring some new software on the server screen directly, and I saw the front panel went dark totally: the leds of the HDDs, the status screen, and so on. I thought the server had crashed and restarted, but the OS was still running without problems. After that I haven't seen the front panel again when the fans start running faster, I just hear the fans and when I get to the server it's running fine.

I think this could be related to a new PCI Express card we installed two days ago. It's a FM radio capture card. But I don't know how could this cause the voltage readings to fail... anyway, I didn't had this problem before, so it must be related, I just don't know how.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Rodrigo Gómez
