Hi all, need help on where to diagnose this problem.
My VRTX has only 1 M520 server node. for now I installed Windows 2012 on it so I can take vitualization out of the picture first.
No problems with network connectivity, ping test all checks out. problem is bandwidth.
I plug my laptop to one of the external ports of VRTX integrated switch. and did iperf test between my laptop and the server node.
For M520 sending packets to my laptop
iperf shows
------------------------------------------------------------
Client connecting to 172.17.0.101, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 63.0 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[ 3] local 172.17.0.111 port 49159 connected with 172.17.0.101 port 5001
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 595 MBytes 587 Mbits/sec
587 Mbps not exactly gigabit, but I suppose I can live with this.
But when I try to do the traffic in reverse from my laptop sending packets to the server, iperf shows
C:\Users\Zen>iperf -c 172.17.0.109
------------------------------------------------------------
Client connecting to 172.17.0.109, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 63.0 KByte (default)
------------------------------------------------------------
[ 3] local 172.17.0.101 port 55819 connected with 172.17.0.109 port 5001
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.2 sec 9.75 MBytes 4.82 Mbits/sec
that's 4 Mbps! it fluctuates between 1 to 11 Mbps. quite absurd... I've already updated firmware of CMC, VRTX integrated switch, M520 NICs. I didn't touch any of the QoS settings. it's now at basic with no egress and ingress limitations.
Can anyone advice me how to go about solving this bandwidth issue? Where should I look?
Hope I can get more useful answers and/or advice from the community.
Thank you..
Best regards,
Zen
