Hi,
I want to upgrade the memory of a PowerEdge R-410 that was bought with 2 x Xeon X5670 and 6 x 4 GB dual-rank RDIMM 1333MHz. The system has two free memory slots, therefore I would like to know if additional 2 x 8GB RDIMM can added or not. I have search on the documentation and it specifically says
The maximum memory that is supported on your system varies according to the types and sizes of memory modules being used:
Single-rank and dual-rank RDIMMs of sizes 2-GB, 4-GB and 8-GB are supported for a total of up to 64 GB.
:
Memory modules of different sizes can be mixed in A1-A4 or B1-B4 (for example, 2-GB and 4-GB), but all populated channels must have identical configurations.
However it also shows a memory configuration table that only shows same size DIMM combinations (ie. 8x4GB, 8x8GB,....). Does anybody knows if other combinations are possible, ie. 6x4GB + 2x8GB ?
