R710 Memory upgrade warning

Hello,

I have an R710 server with 24GB RAM (2 CPUs). The current RAM is 24GB, 6 modules of 4GB placed in slots A1, A2, A3 and B1, B2, B3 (the white slots).

We have purchased 6 additional modules of 8GB in order to archive a total of 72GB memory. 3 of the new modules are Kingston (1600 MHz) and the 3 other new modules are Dell (1333 MHz).

We have placed the modules to the slots as show below:

  • A1 -> 8GB
  • A4 -> 4GB
  • A2 -> 8GB
  • A5 -> 4GB
  • A3 -> 8GB
  • A6 -> 4GB

The same configuration for the B slots.

The problem is that BIOS (we have updated the BIOS to the latest version 6.4.0) returns the warning "Unsupported memory configuration"! But both the BIOS and my Operating System (Win 2008 R2) recognize the whole 72GB memory and the system works smoothly.

Any ideas? Anything to worry about?
