Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
Purchased a used R210 with no optical drive and no OS to use in my small auto repair shop. Also picked up a Dell SATA DVD drive for it, along with a 'new' Win2008 server software/license package.
I installed the DVD, it powers up and will open to accept disk. However, system does not detect the drive. In fact, at first, system only detected SATA0. DVD drive is in SATA3, second hard drive is in SATA2.
I found that all but SATA0 had been turned off in settings, changed that to Auto. Also used a USB stick to updated BIOS to latest version.
Still can't get it to see the DVD drive in order to load the OS. I can get to a DOS prompt by booting from a DOS bootable USB stick, but that's it. I used this to update the BIOS, but every other driver I find on the support section of Dell can't be run in DOS.
Going through OS deployment it will only recognize the NIC card and the USB drive. I did put the Dell OS deployment driver .exe file on the drive, but the system cannot find the catalog (?)
I've spent most of the day playing with this, and reading all over the interwebs, especially here, to no avail. If anyone can suggest what I might be missing, that'd be great.
Thanks.
Brett
