Hi,
We have a Dell R720 which is having a few problems with a (Xilinx chipped) FPGA PCI card. The server itself is running CentOS 6.4 x64, OMSA 7.4.0 and the latest BIOS we can get our hands on (2.1.3). In slot 7 is a Solarflare 10Gbps network card which is working fine and in slot 6 is the troublesome FPGA card.
At first all is well and the server boots fine. However after we program the FPGA card then it starts going a bit wrong. Just after the CPLD messages the box will either hang (bad) or take a v-e-r-y long time to progress through the PCI/system checks and Lifecycle bit (not as bad). As things stand we have slot 6 set to not be available for boot drivers just in case. When it hangs the LED screen says:
PCI 1320 Bus Fatal Error bus 0, device 3 function 0, power cycle system.
We're just about to try moving the FPGA to slot 4, in case it makes any difference. I was just wondering if anyone has a clue about what the problem may be, as we're a bit out of ideas. As an aside this sort of thing seems to be fine on a HP DL380 G7 and G8.
Thanks in advance!
J
